Shasta Classics 30th Anniversary

May 20, 2018 Cruise/Poker Run and Party at Heart S Ranch

On May 20, 2018 Shasta Classics celebrated 30 years as a active Car Club.  It all started in 1988 when a few Classic Chevy lovers formed the club called Shasta Classic Chevy Club, 55, 55 & 57.  Over the years in has changed to All Chevy’s 30 years and older and finally to our current name as Shasta Classic which includes all classic cars & trucks 30 years & older.

This event had a great turn out, we had over 70 people in attendance and most participated in the Cruise/Poker Run which started at 1:00 in the afternoon.  Also to get in the party mood many members dressed in attire appropriate to the year of their cars…..So Much Fun!!

The committee headed by John Wolf had been working on the plans for the event beginning in February this year and put a lot of time and effort into making it a big success.  A big thank you goes to Val Harvey, Donna Wilson, JoAnn Blomquist and Susan Wolf (and their spouses too).  Thanks to all for a great time.

Cruise participants met at J’s Market in Shasta and took off around 1:00 and headed out to The Tower District/Camden House on the west side of Whiskeytown Lake.  We drew our first card then scouted out the area’s of interest.  Then it was off to the Glory Hole where President Kennedy Dedicated the Whiskeytown Dam for our 2nd card and took in the sights.  The 3rd stop was Whiskeytown Cementery, which is very old and interesting.  We also stopped at the Whiskeytown Visitor Center, the last stop was the California Welcome Center in Anderson before continuing on the Heart S Ranch, our Party destination, at 4:00pm!

We had a catered dinner, Car Races, music WITH our own DJ “Larry Weaver”, dancing, Original Member Honors and Awards.  In addition each member received an awesome 30th Anniversary Commemorative Medallion.

AWARDS:  Best Poker hand went to Bertie, she received $50 Gift Card for Oliver Garden and a bottle of Wine.  2nd best had went to Ed Ray, who received dinner for 2 at Puerto Vallarta and margarita mix.  Ted Landis had the lowest hand and received a $25 gift card for Good Times Pizza and six pack of coke.

Ed Carloni won the ever popular “Match Box Car races” and received $25 and a 6 pack of coke.  All names were put in a hat and winners were drawn for each tables gift basket/center piece.

Note:  If you have any pictures you want to share on this event please send them to me and I will add them to this page.  Especially looking for pics with the “Cool” costumes.  Darlene

Shasta Classics 25th Anniversary

June 23, 2013 Cruise/Poker Run and Picnic

We had a great turnout for the Cruise and Poker Run on Sunday 6/23/13.  Participants met at the Anderson Outlet Mall at 8:30am where they drew there first card for the poker hands they purchased, all money spent would go back to the winners.  There we 17 cars that turned out for the cruise, 12 of them were classics.  It was a little rainy in the morning so some members chose not to bring out their classic. I will note here that the Cruise Route was put together by John Wolf and the Poker Run was planned and coordinated by Danny Thorsen.

At 9:05am we started out to cruise we only had a little rain so it did not spoil the views and the fun.  Our route took us east and we passed through Roosters Landing and saw the amazing rock wall built along and through the Holiday Grocery Store founders ranch property.  Our 2nd poker card was drawn at the Darrah Springs Fish Hatchery, which they claim is the largest in the State.  Our next stop and 3rd poker card drawing was at the Manton Store in Manton, population 750.  The locals really enjoyed our cars and our members checked out the store.  We continued on going south to Red Bluff River Park, where were drew our 4th card.  We arrived at Anderson River Park Gazebo, the final destination at around 1pm, where we drew our last card and if we wanted bought a 6th card for $1 to better our chances.  Members that didn’t take the cruise were able to buy poker hands to get in on the action.

We had a great turnout for the Picnic, 68 members and guests were present for the festivities.   Each member was given a new Club Name Tag, designed and ordered by Elaine Wolters.  The Gazebo was decorated by Sherry and Wilber Chase and looked great.  Gayle and Loren Clark arrived early, around 8:15am, to make sure our spot was saved and welcomed members as they arrived.  Members had fun with the Trivial Questions, bean bag toss, golf ball toss and socializing with everyone.  The food which was catered arranged by Ted Landis was served right on time,at 3:00pm and I did not hear any complaints.  After eating Danny Thorsen gave the answers to the Trivial Quiz then announced the Poker Run Winners:  1st place Mike Miller $150, 2nd Place Val Harvey $87 and 3rd Place Ed Ray $55!!!!

After dinner we finished the games and the team winners were:  Bill Wilkinson & Sherry Milton won the Bean Bag Toss, Larry Harvey & Vicki Wilkinson won the Golf Ball Toss.  Prizes were donated and awarded by Debi & Danny Thorsen.  Another great day………….And a big THANK YOU to all the above mentioned members who took the time and effort to make this party a big success.
